Wedding FAQ
Wedding questions, answered.
The things couples ask most, answered plainly. If yours isn’t here, just ask.
How far in advance should we book?
As soon as you have your date. Dates are reserved on a first-come basis with a signed agreement and a 25% retainer, so the earlier you reach out the more likely your date is open. If your date is already close, ask anyway — it is always worth checking.
What’s your turnaround time for galleries?
One to two weeks for your full gallery. Heirloom includes a sneak peek within 48 hours and Legacy within 24, so you have something to share while the rest is being edited.
What’s your turnaround time for films?
Two to three weeks. Film takes longer than photography because the edit is built around sound — your vows, your speeches, the room — and that is worth getting right.
Do you travel outside Jacksonville, and is there a travel fee?
I cover Jacksonville and everywhere within about an hour’s drive — the beaches, Ponte Vedra, Nocatee, St. Augustine, Amelia Island, Fernandina, Orange Park, and Fleming Island — with no travel fee inside that radius. Further afield is possible; just ask and I will quote it honestly.
Is an engagement session included?
Yes — Signature, Heirloom, and Legacy all include one. It is genuinely useful: you get comfortable in front of the camera, I learn how the two of you actually are together, and the wedding day goes easier for it.
Do you work with a second photographer?
Yes. Signature includes two professional photographers, Heirloom two photographers plus a videographer, and Legacy two photographers plus two videographers. A second shooter means both of you are covered at once — each of you getting ready, and both reactions during the ceremony. Elopement coverage is just me.
What film deliverables do you offer?
A Wedding Highlight Film, a shorter Wedding Teaser to share in the days after, a longer Love Story Film, and a Family Film for portrait clients. If there is something specific you are hoping for, ask before you book so we can be clear about it up front.
When can you fly the drone, and are there places you can’t?
I am FAA-certified, so drone coverage is done by the book. There are places it genuinely is not allowed — controlled airspace without clearance, some state and national parks, and venues with their own restrictions — and weather and wind can rule it out on the day. I check your venue in advance and tell you plainly whether to expect aerial coverage.
What’s required to reserve our date?
A signed agreement and a 25% retainer. Until both are in, the date stays open to anyone else who asks.
What happens if it rains?
We shoot anyway. This is Florida — rain is part of the deal, and it does not have to be the thing you remember about your day. Part of planning ahead is knowing your venue’s covered spots and where the good indoor light falls, so there is already a plan if the sky opens. And weather often gives you frames you would never have got otherwise: umbrellas, wet pavement holding the light, the two of you laughing under a doorway because there is nothing else to do but laugh. Weather changes the pictures. It does not diminish them.
